It operates by cooling a surface until water vapor in the sample condenses into liquid droplets. The temperature at which this condensation occurs is the dew point. Here's how a dew point meter works: Sample Collection: The meter draws in a sample of the gas or air to be measured. Cooling: The sample is passed over a cooled surface, such as a mirror or a chilled plate. Condensation: As the surface cools, the water vapor in the sample reaches its saturation point and begins to condense into liquid droplets.
